NID-Ahmedabad has designed the special ‘At Home’ invitation kit for India’s 80th Independence Day celebration at Rashtrapati Bhavan. For the fourth consecutive time, NID has been entrusted with the project. The kit showcases traditional crafts from Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Goa, involving over 130 artisans and more than 220 contributors, including experts and students. It features Dhokra, Bastar Lauh-Shilp, Goan Azulejo, Bhil, Bagh-print and Warli art, along with a Konkan-inspired Kavi design and a handwoven Maheshwari-style stole. Around 650 kits have been prepared at NID-Ahmedabad. The initiative celebrates India’s cultural heritage, environmental conservation and traditional craftsmanship, while providing artisans with opportunities to gain recognition and strengthen their connection with the mainstream.
