The Commonwealth Games flag has arrived in Gujarat from Glasgow, marking the beginning of preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, which Gujarat will host. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi formally presented the flag to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel during the Cabinet meeting in Gandhinagar. At the Glasgow CWG 2026, India finished fourth with 39 medals - 13 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze. Indian para-athletes also secured 7 medals, including three gold, two silver and two bronze. The flag will remain in Gujarat until 2030 and serve as a symbol of inspiration for athletes and preparations for the Games, while promoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Fit India’ vision. The traditional handover of the CWG flag symbolises the transfer of hosting responsibility, continuity of the Games, and the values of unity, friendship, cooperation, fair play and sporting excellence.
