Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2 Opens, Connecting Gandhinagar in Record Time
The long-awaited Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro is now operational, slashing travel time between the twin cities to under 45 minutes.
Commuters across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar woke up to a transformed transit landscape today as the second phase of the metro rail network officially opened to the public. The new corridor links the commercial heart of Ahmedabad with the administrative capital, Gandhinagar.
Officials say the extension is expected to carry over two lakh passengers daily, easing pressure on the perpetually congested SG Highway. Ticket prices have been kept deliberately affordable to encourage adoption.
“This is a milestone for urban mobility in Gujarat,” a senior transport official said at the inauguration. “We have built infrastructure that will serve generations.”
